Reflecting on past blogs and attending the Western Sydney study visits has further challenged my thoughts and understanding regarding the role of the Teacher Librarian. Posting about my initial thoughts of the role a TL and what I now know has been a dramatic development . Of particular concern was my post stating my initial thought of the role a TL was preservation of knowledge (Edwards, 2013) . I understand now that the collection of a schools library must reflect the needs of the school to support students achievement and school goal but my challenge will be what to weed when evaluating resources. Richard Fidlers Podcast with Sturt Kells about the history of libraries, again mentioned that libraries preserve knowledge. As a person who has built a house with loads of storage and aiding my father to build a shed to store random stuff in, biologically, I’m a hoarder and with the development of a collection development policy, I hope to alleviate the challenges I will face when it comes time to weed resources from the school library collection.
